Go to jail and you could lose them to other players while you are incarcerated!

The third time's a charm! Or so JediCole hopes as he pits his Ever-Ticking Brain against contestants once again and tries to defend the Prize Pile. The Prize Pile is a huge assortment of prizes (collectibles, comic book trade paperbacks, games, toys, and assorted fun things) that are offered as the all or nothing goal of this show's contestants.
In the first round Cole acts as host as three contestants answer trivia questions in unique categories and try to keep the top scores. In the second round one contestant is eliminated and replaced by the host! From that moment forward JediCole has no prior knowledge of the questions asked as he competes to eliminate a second contestant for the final round. The last contestant standing then goes head to head with the host answering the same 10 questions in 60 seconds!
If the finalist answers more questions correctly he or she takes home the WHOLE Prize Pile! If Cole is triumphant (as he has been in the first two years in a row), all of the prizes remain in his possession , but fear not! Every last prize will be given away before the end of the All-Con weekend! Just because JediCole is defending the Prize Piled does not mean he wants to take it home. This is the last time Prize Pile will be produced at All-Con so don't miss out!

Science fiction has served as a speculative vehicle for evaluating and understanding the world in which we live. It is a type of fiction that is deeply rooted in the mythology of man. Since the early beginnings of story telling, man has utilized speculative fiction to not only make sense of the world, but to hypothesize about the future based on the present. In this sense, science fiction can be said to represent a type of mythological narrative that serves as both cultural mirror and cultural teacher. It is a timeless cultural phenomenon that can be used as a valuable teaching tool across disciplines in order to inspire unbiased critical thinking and discussion about concepts in literature, science, and social science. This discussion explores the many ways in which science fiction can be utilized to develop or enhance any course in the sciences and social sciences and will include real course examples of each.

Gotham City vs. Metropolis - A Social Comparison
Pecan until 10:45 AM
Presented by:
Daryl G. Frazetti
Cultural symbolism of Gotham City and Metropolis. Though fictitious, both Gotham City and Metropolis are representative of deeper cultural themes. Their primary significance can be seen through their respective representations of the social issues that exist in the urban environment. The term Gotham also has cultural ties to England which can be seen through the same comic representation. Both Metropolis and Gotham City also hold cross cultural significance with respect to contemporary urban culture and its evolutionary history. Through this exploration of a contrast between urban visions of darkness and utopia, political and economic themes of urban life are illuminated. Both Gotham City and Metropolis clearly offer insight into the evolution of urban culture. Using a cross cultural perspective, the origins and continued evolution of urban culture are explored with respect to the origins and continued evolution of Gotham City and Metropolis.

The X-Men comics justify the use of the comics medium as a viable means of social communication. It is evident that the X-Men comics vividly address a number of social issues that are alive and well in contemporary culture. This is perhaps one of the primary reasons for the success of this series. Individuals turn to comics as not only a form of entertainment or escapism, but perhaps more importantly for the lessons and hope that can be gleaned from them. X-men offers insight into contemporary cultural issues such as racism, anti-Semitism, and genocide. Characters act in a metaphorical sense as they illuminate the power and necessity of the individual in a culture. The concepts of ethnocentrism and cultural relativism resonate throughout the exploration of such themes as diversity, individualism, religion and the concept of a subculture. Examination of the X-Men comics reveals the power of this futuristic mythos and how it acts as both a mirror and guide to contemporary culture.

Shed the mild-mannered nature of your secret identity and reveal the hero for the day. Demonstrate to others your values and virtues, and any super powers that are yours to command! (Please do not reveal any powers which may be unsafe to exercise in confined areas or indoors... laser vision, heat breath, sonic scream, etc.) All-Con welcomes established heroes whom we've all read about and seen on screen.
We also looks forward to the introduction of new 'independent' heroes who may not have ever gotten a proper introduction to the great city of Dallas, but who are equally instrumental in the fight against forces of evil and the unjust! A trophy awaits the best or most creative of the heroes! This is All-Con's sixth year running this competition.

All-Con isn't over just because the final bell has tolled. While all of the 2013 volunteers are at their appreciation social, enjoying snacks, winning prizes, and having a grand old time, everybody else is welcome to join us for one last ALL All-Con event!
Todd Carlton (All-Con's Content Manager) and Cole Houston (All-Con's director of Game Show content) will be fight through their exhaustion to put together the final jewel event in All-Con's 2013 crown.
Part game show, part discussion panel, and all fun, concluding with the final ''Pinata Frenzy'' for the year, what this event lacks in structure is made up with pure free-flowing creativity from the minds who assembled the content for the entire convention.
Come and enjoy the last event of the year open to non-volunteers. It's a celebration you won't want to miss.

The convention runs 90% upon volunteers from the community of attendees. This end-of-the-convention social is a wrap-up exclusively for volunteers and is a chance for the staff to thank them all personally.
Special volunteer-only things happen at this reception that aren't advertised in advance. (Prizes and food are involved.) You can find out for yourself by attending! At any time during the convention stop by the Volunteer table in the gallery and signing up for hours to volunteer!
If you're reading this and it's time for the party and you didn't volunteer... well... you can always attend the All-Con Closing Bell event and wait for all of your volunteer friends to finish having fun before you go home for the year.

This is your big chance to start your volunteer hours for 2014! We've got audio to pack, screens to disassemble, pipe-and-drape to take down, a truck to load, art show to pack up, and more.
Work shoulder-to-shoulder with con staff to earn hours towards your free badge for 2014 ... the first year we go to a 4-day format! (Free badges require 8 hours of volunteer time to be completed before the end of the 2014 convention.)
Extra hours volunteering also gives you the opportunity to win MORE PRIZES during the Volunteer exclusive party at the end of the All-Con X in 2014.
So don't pack and go home Sunday at the end of the scheduled content. Help the All-Con staff convert ''Con Space'' back into the good old Crowne Plaza hotel, where the unknowing public won't have any idea the great time we just had all weekend!
